Eg, if cell A3 contains the date 23/02/2019 and you want the day of the week in cell B3, enter the following in cell B3: =text(A3,”dddd”)
For an abbreviated day containing the first three characters, enter: =text(A3,”ddd”)
1. To show the day of the week in a column next to the date, copy the date column into a new column.
2. Highlight the column that you want as the day of the week, right click and select Format Cells
3. Select Custom from the bottom of the Category list on the Number tab
4. In the Type box, enter ddd to display the day abbreviated to three letters, or dddd to display the day of the week in full
